Autumn sonata shanghai12/6/2023 Hyundai also fits its new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, a gearbox that also pulls duty in the Veloster N, the Kia K5 GT, and in the upcoming Elantra N. To get there, engineers fortified the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter's block, integrated its exhaust manifold into the cylinder head, lowered the compression ratio from 13.0:1 to 10.5:1, and bolted on a turbocharger to swell the intake with boost. That's 99 more horsepower and 130 pound-feet of torque more than the Sonata's naturally aspirated 2.5-liter and 110 more ponies and 116 pound-feet over the Sonata's available 1.6-liter turbo four. In the Sonata, it pumps out a stout 290 horsepower at 5800 rpm and a burly 311 pound-feet of torque at just 1650 rpm. The turbo four is also shared with the Sonata's platform mate, the Kia K5 GT. Sonata Hybrid Weds Style and Fuel Efficiencyīehind its big blacked-out grille is a new turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four shared with the Genesis G80 and GV80.Tested: 2020 Hyundai Sonata Has Beauty and Brains. An afternoon spent driving it around Southern California plus an outing at our Michigan test track tells us it's good enough to do just that. On sale now, it's the first performance version of the brand's popular mid-size sedan, and it's looking to steal some practicality-minded enthusiasts from the Honda Accord 2.0T, Mazda 6, and Toyota Camry TRD. The team's insomnia-suffering speed merchants have also created Hyundai's most powerful front-wheel-drive sedan ever, the 2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line. Since the Veloster N was introduced in 2018, Hyundai engineers have been a busy bunch of bees developing six more products, including the new 2021 Elantra N Line, the more powerful Elantra N, which will go on sale late in 2021, and three SUVs that are coming soon. Hyundai says its N performance division is named for its Namyang proving ground in Korea and Germany's Nürburgring, but the team involved probably would tell you it stands for No Sleep. The onboard display has certainly demonstrated that Spring is indeed on it's way.UPDATE 1/14/21: This review has been updated with test results. The Solar Roof is an interesting gimmick but it certainly points out the benefit of having solar cells pointing at/tracking the sun's position in the sky. EPA numbers have not yet been met BUT it has all been winter driving with snow tires so far so I'll wait to see how it all pans out over a full year. I keep all fuel receipts in a spreadsheet so I KNOW exactly what the vehicle actually delivers. It is as much as >15% optimistic compared to Real World Calculations. The fuel economy is actually pretty outstanding for a vehicle of this size BUT nowhere near as good as what the onboard "Guess-O-Meter" display would have you believe. Not much good for using engine braking when driving in mountainous terrain. Why have "Manual Gear Selection Capability" at all if the vehicle insists on reverting back to DRIVE within 10 seconds of selecting a specific gear. The technology and driver safety equipment is pretty remarkable with a couple caveats. This firm ride is more apparent at low speeds than on the highway. Handling is spectacular BUT I personally would gladly trade off a couple notches of handling prowess for a couple notches of … improvement in ride quality. The interior is beautiful and a wonderful place to spend time. Styling is a subjective issue so I won't dwell on that but I do prefer the front end treatment on the Hybrid Model over all the other 2021 Sonatas. I've had my 2021 Sonata Hybrid for 4 months now. Highway Driving Assist (enhanced lane-keeping assist functionality).Blind-Spot View Monitor (supplements blind-spot monitor with camera views of the blind spots on each side of the car. Surround-view camera system (gives you a top-down view of the Sonata Hybrid and its surroundings for tight parking situations).12.3-inch digital instrumentation display. This top-of-the-line trim adds plenty of luxury, technology and safety features that include: Hyundai digital key functionality (an app that lets you use your Android phone as a key). The midlevel trim adds several desirable upgrades, such as: Lane keeping system (makes minor steering corrections to help keep the vehicle in its lane).
